software piracy

without comments

I heard Romania is on the top 10 in software piracy. Actually, i think we’re on the top 10 in every kind of piracy…including music, movies. And the worse part is, that i agree with it. I’m not into buying software. I’m not into buying music also. But if I’m downloading an artist album, and i like it very very much, i decide that they should earn some money, because the released some very good shit, and they deserve it, that’s why I’m going to try and find the album and buy it. But software…i don’t know, it costs a hell lot of money for a user to be able to buy something he needs once or twice in a lifetime. Software should only be bought by companies, companies that make a lot of money by using the software.

Anyway, I have a genuine Windows Vista Ultimate x64 installed on my personal laptop (using a volume license key from a company i used to work for – but hell, it’s genuine), and a genuine Symantec Endpoint Protection bought few months ago by the company I’m currently work for. What those companies didn’t buy was something i needed for few days – Adobe products. In my case, I’m talking about Photoshop, Fireworks, Dreamweaver, and SoundBooth. SoundBooth is the latest Adobe Audition that is actually Syntrillium’s Cool Edit Pro – a software for editing audio files. So, all those software i use …like once in few months. How the hell should i pay a shit load of money for them?…am i that crazy?…NO!!

So, i installed Adobe Master Collection 4, which has almost every Adobe software there is on this planet. But i only installed the things i needed, not everything. And since I’m not using them so often, and they don’t get me some money, i used the cracked version of the software…cracking this meaning using a keygen that came with the software in the same torrent.

After installing, everything was great, i was able to use the software and Adobe didn’t know about it. But at second start of the software, that sneaky Fireworks told Adobe behind my back that i didn’t buy the software, and that the serial keygen generated was not valid. Ok…so, how to stop that behavior? I tried with Symantec’s Endpoint Protection – their latest version. This software should be an antivirus and a firewall. Unfortunately, they suck in firewalling, especially in program control. So i used another cracked software to block my cracked Adobe for contacting internet. And it’s called Zone Alarm. Zone Alarm, i think it’s the best in program control. I set his security to “maximum”, which means it’s going to ask me every time a software is trying to access network, and wow, it asked me if i want to allow Adobe to get on the internet – of course, i don’t!

So this is how a home user can have Adobe products and make Adobe stop his piracy warning to appear on his computer.

And back to the piracy again. I forgot to say something about movie piracy. If you like a movie, and has great actors, you take your girlfriend, or boyfriend, or …just friends, and go to a cinema. You get nice sit in the cinema, you get a really big picture, you get surround sound, and included in the price, you get the movie. That’s how a movie producer get’s the money. But if you’re sitting back home, with nothing else to do, getting bored on what’s on TV, i don’t see any harm in downloading a movie torrent and watch the movie till you fall asleep.

And i almost forgot, Windows Firewall was also useless in blocking Adobe software to access internet.

long time no blogging :)

without comments

I surely didn’t had too much free time for me to blog…but anyway… I just realized how much success my post about how far online relationships has among people. Latest comment came from an Egyptian girl who met this US guy on the internet. After few meetings (so, no, it wasn’t just online), she found out he had 3 kids. (and probably married) What can i say … shit happens all the time.

At work is …like hell…a lot to work, so less time to do everything. We eventually started virtualizing servers as we supposed to do 2 months ago. So now i started learning about VMware and their products, especially the ones we’re using – ESX, Converter, Virtual Center.

Nothing much to say about the rest of things..so I’m just going to shut up :)
