dovecot problem
At least, that’s what i thought first.
I have this server on my hands, i installed apache, php, mysql, postfix, dovecot, amavis, spamassasin and clamav. Worked great with the versions i installed first, but now has some problems with dovecot server – pop3/imap. I search the logs, even put a post in dovecot mailing lists. And since my first post, and my first reply, i started looking deeper into this shit.
I discovered that on sept 28th at 2:30am, dovecot login processes died suddenly. I also saw in mysqld.log that mysqld died around that time. So i thought, that dovecot being tied to mysql, that should be the problem. So, i manually stopped and started mysqld after 5 minutes – dovecot login processes were up and running. I looked into messages log, ..nothing. I looked into maillog, and saw that at 2:30am on sept 28th, postfix died and was restarted few minutes after…and so was amavis and spamd. Curious…who the fuck sends sigterms to my processes?..So i looked more in logs. I saw in secure log that even sshd was restarted at about that hour. So, my guess was that the server was restarted, or at least, because the boot log was empty, something was done to the virtual machine on which it’s installed. So i typed “w” on that server and saw that uptime was like an hour after my logs said that all those processes were stopped. So, now, my guess is, the guys hosting the virtual platform, did something to this server. I’m gonna report this to the owners and tell them what they should tell the providers. Hopefully, they’ll omit words like shit, fuck, crap…
new theme from wordpress
That’s what i notices 2 days ago when i visited my blog. It’s different, but i still like it, so it’s still going to remain the same theme…
In the mean time, watch this..
fuck noi2.ro
It’s not that they did something to me …nah…they just decided to make some money out of that website. So, noi2.ro is a dating site. It was free many many years. But, today i just discovered that if you wanna see who visited ur profile, you have to pay.. I was like..what the fuck??..in a confusing period of my life, i choose a dating website called okcupid.com. Both sites have commercials, for them to get the money. But okcupid.com it’s free..and they say it’s always going to be free. BTW, you can see who visited your profile. And it’s free. And has a lot of shit that noi2.ro isn’t capable of. So, if you’re looking at something better than noi2.ro, okcupid.com is the thing to choose.
interview lies
I hate it when people lie to you at a job interview. They promise everything you like to hear, but when you get to them, you see that it’s not as they told you it would be.
In my case now, i’m talking about the bank i’m working for. I clearly remember that the offer included internet banking free of charge – no extra fees. So, for every fucking pay i make using their internet banking, no other fees included. Of course, it isn’t like that. I just discovered last month that after a fee is taken from my account from my bank, at the end of the month i have to send an e-mail message to some people and they should give it back to my account. Ok, this is what i did. I sent an e-mail telling them the day the fees were taken from my account. I did this on 29th last month. Today was 9th next month, and still no reply to my e-mail, and the amount they took from my account it’s still missing.
Should i look for another job already?
cheap web design
I have this friend who has this web design company (or agency, as she likes to call it). In her last few blogs she complains about people who are trying to make a living though cheap websites. It’s true, there are some “specialists” who can make a shitty website for 200E. But, i remember seeing some of that agency websites that looked like shit, and i wouldn’t pay 100E for one of them, but i know she asked at least 1000E for each of them, and although they looked likeĀ shit, they got the money.
So, how come now, after few years from that, she starts blaming those “specialist” for making cheap websites and poisoning web design business?..i guess greed. Or something worse. She’s sick, for trying to stop this phenomenon. And, as far as i remember, being hired at this web design “agency” few years ago, we had an account on some free lance site, ..i guess www.elance.com and me and that other dude i was working with, were looking for jobs – websites to build. There we found indians. Right, indians. They made websites for prices beginning at $100, which means something lower than E70. So, 70 euros for a website. Now that’s cheap. Cheaper than you’ll ever find in Romania. And at that time, we had the curiousity to look at their portfolios.
We were amazed by their work. They had really cool ideas, layouts, websites. We even thought of stealing those layouts, or parts of them, or …something, hire an indian or something. And we looked at more than 1 web design indian company. Most of them …like 90% were above anything i saw from this girl’s “agency”. So, cheap web design is not necessarily poisoning to web design business. It’s true, it’s poisoning for her wallet, but not for the whole business. If i wanna make a really cool website, there are 2 options:
- myself, 2 dime “specialist” in web design, but i get my job done exactly the way i want it.
- indian company who can deliver my layout or even my whole website with less money than some web design “agency” in Romania.
Nokia E71
The most complex mobile phone i had so far. Has…everything i wanted, meaning ..wireless and GPS. And both work really great, considering i started watching movies on youtube on my mobile phone, or drive last weekend to the seaside being assisted by its GPS functions, and, of course, a cracked version of Garmin XT. You can find specifications about my newly bought cell phone over here. Anyway, so far, it makes all the money i spent for it.
first visit to a dentist
It didn’t happen yet, but it will, somewhere around 6pm this afternoon. Hopefully, i’ll get out of there alive..
[update]: Went really well, although i have to get to him one more time to finish all my problems. Not that painful, and he was really quick. I think mostly 20 minutes, considering i waited for the sedatives to take effect, so ..10 minutes.
